Marion Medical Mission began working in
Africa in 1985, primarily working with hospitals and medical personnel. Since 1990, our focus has shifted to providing clean water to the extreme poor in remote areas of Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique. However, we are still involved in several other education
and medical projects in Malawi.
SCHOOLS
Marion Medical Mission has contributed to several primary schools in Malawi. These partnerships have been self-help in the same sense that our wells are built: MMM provides only what the community can’t. The community provides unskilled labor and bricks and sand. MMM then provides skilled labor and building materials such as cement and tin roofing. MMM has assisted nine primary schools with buildings and teacher houses. They are also provided with school supplies. You can read more about our work with Chizimya Primary School here and with the Embangweni School for the Hard of Hearing here.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Marion Medical Mission currently sponsors 75 secondary school students throughout the Northern Region of Malawi. Transportation scholarships are provided for 100 students at the Embangweni School for the Hard of Hearing.
HOSPITALS
Marion Medical Mission has been providing medical and charitable support to Embangweni Mission Hospital, Ekwendeni Hospital, Mulanje Mission Hospital, Nkhoma Mission Hospital, and David Gordon Memorial Hospital since 2000. You can read more about this partnership here.
